A few "in 20 years" future predictions of mine 👇 (I may embarrass myself here, that's okay)
-
1. At home manufacturing is the future. - 3D Printers are old news already - Soon you can print beverage like on the USS Enterprise with Cana (cana.com) - There are printers for Pizza, Chocolate and even entire Houses (iconbuild.com)
-
- 3D metal printers already print entire rockets: Terran 1 (relativityspace.com) - Future hip replacements may well be on-the-fly 3D prints based on CT scan data - It's only a matter of time until your doctor can print a replacement kidney on demand
-
In 20 years, going to the store and buying ready made stuff will seem as ridiculous as leaving the house without a phone.
-
2. @elonmusk's Spaceship is the steam locomotive of the space age. It's a revolution. It makes payload to orbit cheap. It's the beginning of Moore's law for space -> We can launch more satellites every year -> We can launch them cheaper every year
-
And just in time really. As resources and energy on earth become scarce and expensive. We need to start tapping into the solar system soon. But the next person is going to invent the Model-T of rocketry.
-
Small autonomous units always outperform large-scale monolith systems: - Locomotives vs. Cars - Mainframes vs. PCs - Factories vs. 3D printers Providing low-cost individual access to space. And it probably comes in white.

I'll add more outlandish ideas after my next shower 😁
