Here’s 5 things I would tell my younger self about becoming an entrepreneur. A thread 🧵
-
1. Just get started with business activities. Accept that you will make mistakes, some mistakes may even cost you some money. Look at it as the price you pay for education, it will be worth it.
-
2. Find your first customer. This is surprisingly hard. Often harder than building the product. It’s good to learn this early.
-
3. Get comfortable thinking of your time as valuable. When you have 0 money and revenue it makes sense to do accounting yourself. Later it’s better to pay someone and use your time for building/marketing.
-
4. Learn to say no. Surprisingly hard. But pleasing everybody is a sure road to frustration and failure.
-
5. Learn to value critique. Critique always stings, let it make you better. Praise is always pleasant, but keeps you from true excellence. A real mentor will always challenge you to improve.
