              It started with him offering to co-found a business. My gut said no, my friend counseled yes. So I did it. 👉 Not trusting my gut was a mistake 1/8

            We started without a partnership contract, based on trust, he 30% and I 70%. I was naive. In GER you need 75% votes to close a business. Without a contract it was very hard to get out of it. 👉 Should have done my homework 2/8

          On the upside, I may have never done the step to start my own business without him. 👉 A bad decision is better than inaction 3/8

        In the beginning I was enthusiastic. Then I realized he did less and got out more from our partnership. It sucked the live out of me. 👉 He stepped all over me because I never learned to step up 4/8

      I got depressed and avoided the topic. Went through the motions, had no desire to build. Now that it’s over it feels like a weight was lifted. 👉 Should have confronted him sooner, but I never learned how 5/8

    When finally cutting the ties I made all kinds of concessions to him, drawing out the process even longer, with almost exclusive upsides to him. 👉 I vowed to myself to master a skill I’m very bad at: negotiation 6/8

      When still together he got me to maintain his projects, treated me like an employed freelancer. And I said yes for everything. 👉 Learn to say no! 7/8

        I said yes because I was afraid there’s not enough people willing to pay me for my work out there. 👉 Know your worth! Drop the work you don’t like! There is more than enough work out there 8/8
